Journey on ~ The eastern Sierra’s

A soul filled journey to the high country in June Lake Loop, Silver Lake to be exact, the place that will forever be in my heart.  Words or pictures can’t reveal the beauty this place holds, you have to be there and experience it on your own.  It’s such an awesome place that Hollywood chose it to be in their new movie “Oblivion” starring Tom Cruise & Morgan Freeman.  They were there in the backdrop of my palette for the duration of my journey.  A little strange having my secret place invaded by the stars of Hollywood but in admittance, it was a little exciting to see the helicopter loaded with film dive overhead filming that beautiful lake capturing the first morning’s glass and marshy green glades with Carson peak in the background.

Hiking up the mountain in the Ansel Adam’s wilderness, we met up with several security guards and Park rangers who were warding off the paparazzi.  Little did they know “I” was a little Pap and ventured off to capture Tom Cruises cabin on the pond.  It wasn’t a close up but it was enough to get a glimpse of what’s to come.

Of course I brought work with me, I slowly filled orders between adventures, modified pieces while filling up the soul.  I love that place and will return once again in October to see the last dance of that Aspen that I so love while in their golden state.

Dog poo bag… a must have!  Has a little pocket for your bio bags.

The days were filled with fishing, hiking, kayaking, bike riding and a little respite.  I’m full and have filled my cup once again

Lily’s first Kayak ride, she did great and loved her new life jacket

A day hike up the Ansel Adams wilderness trail at Silver Lake, Lily was exhausted so guess who carried her?

John enjoying the waters… Tom Cruise was filming at that moment directly where John was headed.  See the security guy on that little mound of trees? Look for the white spot on the hill.

Sorry about the name on the pic, I have to protect it  = – )  I hiked a long way to get this image! Tom’s cabin is under the e & n on Christensen. There’s a pond in front of his cabin, when you see the movie you’ll at least have an idea of the country! The brown thing on the rocks is the security box, two people stood watch while filming.

Wildness on the Ansel Adams trail

Ducks left a gift that will be added to the forbidden feather collection

Silver Lake boat house, I collect the shingles every year that blew off during the high winds.  They’re historic.

Danielle paddle boarding with “Lola”

A trout in the pond

My brothers Memorial rock, his ashes were tossed off of the mountain which is about 8,000 feet up. It’s always a special hike when our family hikes up and quietly remember his presence.

This special resort has been a ritual for our family for over 60 years. My Grandfather and his fellow City of Anaheim fishermen buddies found this place 60-70 years ago.

Thank you Pappy for showing your Grandchildren the beauty of the Eastern Sierra’s that we all so much love and appreciate!

Missing my little brother endlessly

Morning loves with the little Lil, I think I’m falling in love with her!

She’s becoming my little shadow that I seem to trip over quite often.

An afternoon walk along the lake

Random fishermen, I’m taken in by other people.  They always make pictures fun to take.

This little guy climbed up my spokes just to try and get the little bit of food left behind from Lily’s bike rides.

He didn’t get any!

At the beginning of the trail, this is great cardio… really!

Another random person I found interesting.  A Grandfather and his Grandson fishing at Grant Lake in the evening.

I loved his pipe.

“Lola” we wore her out

“Lily” the calm after her storm.  Right before this picture she was tearing it up! She even lost her first tooth which I found in the sand.

Danielle just arrived to Silver Lake, I was telling her about the Coyote that she just missed as she pulled up.  He ran out behind her car, close call…. very close.

The horses headed up to Agnew or Gem Lakes, probably further.

“Yeti” and I with the Lil

Creeks namesake… Aspen that was my original logo for “At fallen leaf creek”.

A great morning of fishing on Silver & the Lil sporting her new life jacket.

Random kids on the dock, they were so cute!

The great news, I’ll be selling my jewelry and “Wild peas” fabric bags at Fern creek lodge this next season.  It’s a place I worked for a summer as a teen.  I hear the remaking of “It’s a beautiful life” will be filmed right in the Lodge, oh joy!

The not so great news, we returned to find that every single seedling of Arugula, Radish, Beet, Spinach, Broccoli, and Carrot was gone.  The birds or bugs got to them so I won’t be planting foods of such down on the lower half of the property.  Before leaving I planted and over abundance of watermelon and cucumbers which are ready to be transplanted and will fill the spaces of my twice planted salad selection.  Darnit anyway!

I’ll be adding more pictures to this posting as I find the time to edit and upload.

More to come so please, check back this week!

Some things are best when left unsaid SO….

DEAR DIARY

Here ya go, pics of the garden, the Lil and a couple of new jewelry pieces.  Am I really supposed to be doing this? I mean making jewelry, is this my calling OR am I supposed to be doing something else?  I seem to be in a funny spot, This girl is over loaded and really disliking this feeling of pressure, but then there’s the thing I do outdoors every single day (that would be tending to the yard, a big one) and even wonder if I really enjoy doing that anymore… what the heck is wrong with me?

I’m not candy coating this crazy mind, life, dream… it is what it is and I’m slipping steadily, “Someone, can you please pop this cork and fast”?????

“She’s ready to blow”

I’ve moved into new office space, smaller and easier to find things than it was before, it’s cooler than the creek house and I’m certain will be warmer in the winter.  I’m happy here, it looks like everyone migrates to my new little cubby, *smiles.

Something special

*The Garden

If I were a true farmer, my family would most likely die from malnutrition.  If it weren’t for the acorns they would surely parish.  I managed to neglect the garden after I found the crickets munching on our future food.  I’m sticking to my guns though, No pesicides, ever!  Next year I come up with a new plan, maybe start the newbies in pots rather than sow the seeds straight into their new home.

* The Lil

Where can I start?  She’s a joy, a pain, feisty, a potty machine, a terror and adorable.  She’s never filling Simes place, he was a one of a kind friend and forever will leave a heavy place in my heart a giant hole rather.  Lil seems to play hard and sleep even harder.

The life of a pup

Can you say “Trouble”????

She’s getting snappy with me

Boy… It sure appears you have a rough life Lil!

*New jewelry

Custom orders are being re-thought as well as requests to re-make what I’ve made in the past.  Sure, I can make it again but can I make it in time???  No, I seem to have this luck of multiple requests at the same time and then make all sorts of promises that I can’t keep.  I’m sorry, I just have a lot of things transpiring at once.  One day soon I hope, I’ll get this shop in tip top shape and fire things off in the mail as soon as I get an order but while I’m working alone while holding the fort down, the song remains the same.

A new little handmade jewelry pouch

A long awaited custom order… Thank you M!

Better days ahead!

Lost and found

A late spring cleaning turned out to be a little treasure hunt.  We’re in the midst of moving my beading workbench into my office in the house, I found so many things that most likely fell under the cabinet or I just put it aside and forgot about it.  I love days like this, they make me smile.

My mood is quiet today, it shows.

A few of the found pieces were listed on Etsy yesterday.

I made Lily a new tag for her collar, making more!

Been beading again, getting ready for the triple wrap bracelets and peyote and leather bracelets, it’s a project I’ll always love doing, it’s necessary.

Also found was a black heavily patinaed pair of sterling and jade earrings, I wonder how long ago I made them.  I don’t ever recall making them, I’m losing my mind and fast.

I don’t have much to say about the garden this week except the crickets ate 52 sunflower plants and a little of the greenbeans.  I’m on the warpath,  Relocated crickets, coming soon! Who would have ever thought that I would dislike them this much?  Devistation is what I’ve felt so no garden pictures this week.  Next week will be better, I’m sure.

The Wild oats earrings are probably my most favorite pair at present as well as the green beaded wrap!

Signing out with the chartreuse beaded wrap bracelet, more next week.

I think I was born to nest

As I sit sipping my coffee with laptop and Lily by my side as the morning sun rises from the East, I ponder over this  glorious day.

*I think I’ll spend the day in the garden

It’s Mother’s Day weekend and so much is going on yet I yearn to stay home and nest, the thing I know I was born to do.  I spent last evening ripping out the old carpet from my office, it was long over due for some cheer & brightness.

As I do a 180 glancing around the yard, I see so many things I want to do,  Paint, plant more flowers or build something for the yard.  I’m negative in daylight hours, I wish there were more.

We built three raised beds for a new garden this year.  Three different gardens and now the job is deciding what to plant and which area.  Our first garden area is definitely Tomatoes and artichokes, the artis’ are almost established but only three plants, not enough for our consumption.  The tomato plants are still small, we started from seed this year, I hope they do well.

The new garden area is going to be the big one, I’m planting everthing I can possibly plant and starting with Sunflowers and green beans, the easiest and hardiest by far.  I don’t think we’re done with rains yet, well at least history has proven so.  The mint seems to be doing well, very well.  I made Mint simple syrup over the weekend for Iced tea, a nice refreshing libation indeed.

The 3rd garden area will most likely be for Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Pumpkins and Cucumbers, all of the vining foods.  Everything is safe from my pesky deer friends who seem to eat the most delicate leaves of all.  They haven’t gotten to the roses yet, I’ll keep spraying liquid fence thoughout the summer months, it seems to work for the most part.

The first of May – Another beautiful day in Paradise

Image

As the last day of April winds down, our new little creek mascot plays in the fresh daisy blooms that so much compliment her chestnut hair.

Little Lilybug is learning fast that “Mom’s the boss” and I need to work, she sits or sleeps quietly in her crate on the top of my work bench and puts up with my singing until it’s time for her hourly break from the box.

Goodness, the allergies are here in but are worth the suffering.  The beauty of spring, the visually adorned yard and the color that’s about to pop is comforting to my soul which I shall savor every single opening of each bud, the sounds of the birds and the bees and the fresh clear northern California sunshine.

As I live in the month of May, I dream of new jewelry designs and along the way, I hope to capture the beauty that each day brings…

Day one of my new blog and an introduction to a new buddy!

Finally I sit here on a glorious Friday morning with the sun shining as I write my first entry of my new blog.

A lot has happened this past few years, changes both good and bad.  I’ve had a great deal of loss but also a greater amount of gain on a spiritual level.  I’m grateful for where I’ve been, who I’ve met and where I’m going.  I also know where I don’t want to be or who I don’t want to be like or associate with.

I’m surrounding my being with love, nothing but it.  Peace and Love are the answer for me.

So I’ve gotten an abundance of emails asking if I’ll be blogging again, if you’re reading this then you know the answer was yes! The timing had to be right and today was the day that I write a little bit about what’s new at the Creek house and in my life.

Many of you know that I’ve been working on a special project that’s consumed me.  My little nephew Bodhi was recenlty diagnosed with a rare form of glandular cancer.  He’s a pre teen and has his life ahead of him, he’s a fighter and we’re supporting him all the way to the top!  I’ve been making and selling leather bracelets with the proceeds going to Bodhi’s needs.  I’m amazed at the beautiful people in this world that have played a big part in helping Bodhi, Thank you from my entire big family.  We so much appreciate you and your love.

I’ve also pulled out of a couple of stores, I just can’t keep up with the demands and for now this is best for me and for my creative muse.  I’ve been creating all sorts of things that make me smile and make others smile and this is a good source of therapy for me to  step away from the jewelry scene an hour a day or an entire day during the week.  Everyone needs a break from what they’re doing.  It’s been good for me to do this and get my hands into other mediums.

The latest crafts are here, soon to be sold locally.  Vintage inspired flower pots, small to large (large not shown).  In addition to these fun pots are candle holders of immitation mercury glass, they’re so beautiful with the candles lit!

The newest arrival to the Creek house and to my life,  with a little reservation and close to tears, I’m sharing my new little friend.  Her name is Lilybug.  John gifted me with this funny little terror that I’m liking a lot but ask myself “Why did I do this now”???? She’s hindering my time needed in the shop with her curiosity and determination to eat every single thing that passes her by as she runs a muck.  She’ll never fill the hole of Simes but she’s that little shadow of hope.  I can’t believe I actually own a weenie dog!  I’m a big dog girl, 100% big dog. Why a weenie dog?  Maybe I felt that by having her, I wouldn’t feel guilty and bring home another Simes.   Lily’s events will be mentioned in many posts, I’m certain of it!

Until my next posting….

“Have a beautiful day”
